01 / OUR STRUCTURE

Three levels. One shared responsibility.

These titles recognize the nature and significance of contributions, not geographic seniority or managerial authority. The program brings together documentary contributions, corroboration, and public understanding.

02

Major tips and documents

Chief Ambassador

Recognizes significant tips and documentary contributions that help bring major matters to light, subject to editorial verification.

04

Supporting and corroborating evidence

Ambassador

Recognizes supporting evidence and corroborating material that help clarify and strengthen the examination of a matter.

19

Explanation and public awareness

Consul

Helps explain verified, published reporting and raise community awareness, with clear attribution and respect for the findings and their limits.

02 / PARTICIPATION

A meaningful role in a connected community.

Recognition of contribution

Contribution-based recognition following editorial review, with source identities kept private.

Responsible communication

A shared framework for explaining published findings accurately and preserving their context.

Informed participation

A clear distinction between major disclosures, supporting evidence, and public awareness.

A considered review process

An account-linked application and a separate editorial assessment of contributions.

Public understanding

Helping verified reporting reach more people without disclosing confidential sources or unpublished material.

Recognition reflects the reviewed contribution. Titles are not tied to payment or a fixed number of documents.

03 / OUR PRINCIPLES

Clear roles. Accountable representation.

01

Recognition, not diplomatic office

Chief Ambassador, Ambassador, and Consul recognize contributions within The Ledgers community. They do not confer government office, diplomatic status, geographic jurisdiction, or managerial authority.

02

Independent editorial decisions

Representation does not grant editorial authority, influence over findings, or access to confidential submissions. Publication and review decisions remain with the authorized editorial teams.

03

Editorial review and confidentiality

Recognition follows editorial review of a contribution’s nature and significance, not a payment or document-count formula. Source identities remain private. Do not put raw evidence, source names, or confidential details in the program application; use the separate private evidence intake.

04

Distinct participation pathways

The ambassador program is separate from Master Crook Nominee participation and evidence review. Account-linked The Ledgers intake does not automatically create membership in another organization or authorize the transfer of submissions.

04 / YOUR NEXT STEP

From contribution to representation.

Start with your The Ledgers account. Describe how you can contribute, without including raw evidence or identifying confidential sources.

  1. 01

    Create your account

Register with The Ledgers, or sign in to your existing account. Keep your account details accurate.

  2. 02

    Verify your email

Complete email verification so your application is connected to your verified account.

  3. 03

    Submit your application

Share your languages, experience, and a non-confidential contribution summary. Follow the review status from your account. Documents belong in the separate private intake.

Does registering make me an ambassador?

No. Registration creates a The Ledgers account. The ambassador application and any subsequent role appointment are separate processes.

How are the three titles determined?

Chief Ambassador recognizes major tips and documentary contributions; Ambassador recognizes supporting and corroborating evidence; Consul recognizes explanation of verified published reporting and awareness. Recognition requires editorial review. No payment or number of documents automatically earns a title.

What do the numbers 2, 4, and 19 mean?

Our current program has 2 chief ambassadors, 4 ambassadors, and 19 consuls: 25 contributors in total. Source identities remain private.

How does this relate to Master Crook Nominee?

They are separate pathways. An ambassador application does not confer Master Crook Nominee status, change review criteria, or authorize access to private evidence. Existing account-linked intake and any consent-based transfer remain separate.

Are source identities or application details public?

No public directory of sources is created. This page shows aggregate counts only. Applications are account-linked and reviewed by authorized staff. Keep raw evidence and identifying source details out of the program application; submit documents through the separate private evidence intake.
