Asset restrictions sought for Neslihan Mumcu as Batuhan Mumcu’s removal is reported

The record

Turkey’s fund investigation advanced on two fronts on 7 November: renewed detentions and a reported application concerning Neslihan Mumcu’s assets. The developments concern different people and different procedural steps. Neither establishes guilt. [1][2]

Batuhan Mumcu’s removal reported

Haberler.com reported on the night of 7 November that Batuhan Mumcu had been removed from the BTK board. The Ledgers could not verify an official dismissal decision. Memurlar.net also notes the absence of official confirmation. A causal link between the reported removal and the investigation concerning his wife is likewise not officially established. [6][3]

Two detentions, two further orders

Bulls Yatırım chairman Kemal Akkaya and Yunus Arıncı, identified in reporting as Takasbank’s former general manager, were detained again after earlier releases. The renewed action was reported on the evening of 7 November. [4]

Independent Türkçe also reported detention orders for banking regulator BDDK vice-chairman Muhammet Erişen and Ruzy Madencilik chairman Mehmed Nureddin Çevik. An order to detain someone does not establish that it has been executed; the report distinguished these orders from the two completed detentions. [1]

What prosecutors are seeking from Mumcu

Cumhuriyet reported that prosecutors requested restrictions on Lydia Holding partner Neslihan Mumcu’s securities and asset transactions, alongside searches of property, ship and aircraft registers. It identified her as the wife of former deputy culture minister and BTK board member Batuhan Mumcu. [2]

Memurlar.net dated the reported prosecutorial letter to 7 November. It said whether the request had been decided was not disclosed and that the prosecutor’s office had issued no public statement on the matter. The Ledgers has not independently authenticated the underlying letter. [3]

The amount belongs to the wider case

The same report attributes an earlier estimate of TRY187 billion in alleged unfair fund gains to Justice Minister Akın Gürlek. That is approximately $3.73 billion at the 6 November ECB reference rates. It is a wider-case allegation, not an amount individually attributed here to Mumcu or the newly detained people. [3][5]

The distinction matters for the next stage of reporting: a request identifies the restrictions prosecutors want; a court decision would establish what was authorised; implementation records would establish what was actually frozen. None should be substituted for another.

The next documents to seek are the decision on Mumcu’s assets, its scope and value, and the custody outcomes for the named individuals. The reports reviewed contain no response from those individuals to these latest steps. This article reports an ongoing investigation, not a finding of criminal responsibility. [1][2][3][4]

Currency note: 6 November 2026 ECB reference rates: EUR1 = USD1.1165 = TRY55.9957. Dollar equivalents are rounded; they do not change the original-currency amounts. [5]
